Keep an eye on the website for updates. We do not expect to get back to poets about the final choice of poems before end Jan 2021.
CHAPBOOK CALL OUT – YEAR 2021!
This time we are opening a long window for chapbook submissions
What we want
We are looking for completed, polished mini collections of poetry. We prefer a set of themed poems but are open to all submissions.
We want a set of poems that work perfectly as a chapbook, that feel ‘whole’ rather than part of a larger collection. Individual poems may have been published elsewhere but the complete set must be unpublished.
We want to be startled and moved.
We want to think ‘yes’ while we are reading.
From this round, we hope to select 4 or 5 outstanding poets who we will publish and market extensively
Open to poets internationally aged 18+
What you get
Successful poets will have their chapbook published and distributed by Black Sunflowers press within 1 year of close of submissions.
Successful poets will receive a fee of £150 plus 20 copies of the chapbook.
One submission costs $3
Free entry for Black Sunflowers Members (crowd-funders) – please contact for info.
We are seeking poetry chapbooks of around 24 pages in length (however we will consider manuscripts slightly shorter or longer).
All submissions should be anonymous. Your name must not appear anywhere on the manuscript – unless it is a part of the manuscript. Include a title page, index page with list of poems titles and page numbers.
All submissions should be made via our submittable page
Please provide brief biographical and publication information in the space provided
At the end of the manuscript, please attach list of any poems that have been previously published stating date and publication.
No editing of manuscripts will be allowed after submitting. If you wish to edit or alter your manuscript, please withdraw it and re-submit. If you have submitted before, please send us different work this time.
If you have difficulties submitting please contact us via the website.
Submissions open early November 2020 and close on Feb 28th, 2021
Decisions will be made within 3 months of closing date.
No feedback will be provided to unsuccessful submissions.
